Wanted - Naim shoebox case sleeve

Post by bigfatmonk »

Hi all!
I found this forum from the audioflat naim shoebox case page (via google, not sure the main page links to it anymore). I bought one a number of years ago to re-house the guts of a NAP140 I picked up cheap (must be about 10 years ago now, I was still a student at the time). I didn't get around to it and ended up using the sleeve for a sleeveless NAC42 I picked up along the way.

Now I'm finally trying to finally finish off the NAP140, re-housing and re-caping it, and I'm a bit dismayed to find that the sleeves aren't so readily available anymore! Does anyone have any idea where I might be able to get hold of one?
Cheers, Ben

Hi Ben, the cases you refer to were manufactured by my good friend Andrew (flatpopely) but were a limited production run (albeit quite a large run). Unfortunately, the last one was sold some time ago now and no further ones will be made - this is a certainty as production cost was high and no profit was made. Your best bet is probably to put a wanted advertisement on pfm.

Alternatively I suggest you invest 5K in producing your own - but be prepared to make a loss selling them.

Thats a bummer. Guess I better get to work on becoming an "established" pfm forum member.

Ouch. That's a shame. Did you buy the tooling or have them made by a third party?

I don’t know what became of the tooling, but I do know it was custom made for the job. The extrusions were produced by a company that actually made the originals for Naim. Naim were also kind enough to tell us the exact paint finish these cases had.

Brilliant things, I must have bought 50 of them for Paradise phonostage builds.

For your Paradise phono I guess - I have the same plus another two with my speaker crossovers in and a final one with the turntable power supply in it.

Good news, I’ve found a case and am sending you a PM with the details (to be honest, I haven’t done anything, some nice chap has sent me a PM via pfm).
