Welcome - Say hello in this thread.

It would be great if you could give a precis of who you are, like this:-

I'm Andrew, I live north of York and love music, fast cars and wine.

Just post a new topic like the 'Hello from Spain' one or my one 'Hello I'm Flatpopely'.

Thanks.

I thought perhaps it was about 'speed snap', or similar 8-)

Hi,
I'm David a Hi-Fi addict and music lover from Saffron Walden, Essex.

I have been a Hi-Fi dealer for close on 40 years and was a Linn dealer from the birth of the LP12 until I was given the chop in the 'great cull' of the 80's. Turntables and all things analogue are my thing and I have a collection of new and vintage machines which I love to play and play with. I do still set up and service LP12's from time to time.

Not sure what I can add to this forum but if I can help in any way, I will do my best.

A very warm welcome to you Dave and I'm very pleased to see you here. How are those new Albary amps?

(I well remember the 80's cull you refer to :-()

Thank you. I'm hoping this is going to be a peaceful place.

The Albarry M608 mono's and their matching pre are sounding good, very much as the previous models back in the 80's did. Full, rich, dynamic and communicative, they are a treasure waiting to be discovered.. :)

David.

Why not start an Albarry thread in 'Hi-Fi'?

Andrew.

Re: Welcome - Post a 'New Topic' and say Hello!

Well hello everyone. I'm not sure I will be able to add much about the LP12 or other "Flat Earth" components, but I do at least have no problem with rubber band powered turntables... ;)

I recognise a name or two from AoS - I'm sure some of you will recognise me from there too. I'm 42, and married, and apart from the wife, and my Spendor SP1's the most precious thing in my life is my little girl who turned 2.75 this week. I live in Suffolk - Ipswich to be precise, and work with compooters as they say in these parts. Not a local originally though.

Bit of a "petrol head" although both my cars are now diesel... Still, I can fantasise owning a Veyron playing Gran Turismo on my PlayStation... :) Used to be a biker and still have my ZX-6R Ninja in the garage but SWMBO has banned me now I've got responsibilities, which is fair enough. I do sit on it and go "broom broom" from time to time.

I've been into music rather than hi-fi all my life, though I started getting very budget separates systems together when I was 17, after a disappointing spell with a Sharp midid system - linear tracker, played BOTH sides of the record but sounded like... well, you know what! I inherited a Garrard 401 after the unfortunate demise of my best mate (ironically given my statement above, in a motorbike accident) and the Garrard has been with me ever since - desperately crying out for a service a new plinth and some TLC. I seem to have acquired far too many bits of cheap second-hand kit in the last couple of years... the lure of nostalgia and the evil temptation that is eBay. Who knows, maybe one day I will own an LP12!

Best of luck Andrew & Mark with the forum, and nice to meet the rest of you. :)
