Yeah, I think that would be a good material match between the PZ of the plinth and the aluminium of the arm.

Right decision made, arm board is a go!
If The template board is the same size as the plinth I can clamp it to the top up around where the tt sits and route down, in theory it should level the cut out to the tt .

It also means you will have options for future arm choices. One thing that occurred to me - I know you routed out a lot of the plinth material - do you have sufficient depth of PZ where the armboard wants to go?

I’ve got 25mm of Panzerholz, the tonearm board is 12mm. It should be fine
