Thank you, Mark! Very interesting -- and still somewhat puzzling to me that the Aro/Troika combination is not totally ideal, as I'd always thought the one was designed for the other. Though of course the +/- 1.5mm and the ability to alter the subchassis/armboard relation would make it possible to get the Troika just right...

If it's not too much trouble, could you also try out the 9.5mm Lyra geometry at 212.5mm?

Yes, will do.

I’ve been experimenting a bit with the Troika geometry too and it’s a tricky balancing act between low averages and higher maximums etc.

If only they put small slots in +/- 2mm either way would be enough.

This is for the Lyra:

If you change the pivot to pivot distance to 211 the minimum distortion goes very low but the distortion at the beginning and end of side goes very high.

Thanks, Mark! So the Lyra/Greenstreet combo is indeed just about spot on...

Yes, I would say so.

This is the Troika at 211mm and 210.2mm - you can see the trade-off that exists:

Actually, 210.5 or 210.4 seems to be the absolute optimum for the Troika, but very little in it even at 211mm

All these alternative manufacturers of chassis and armboard designs should be doing this kind of working out rather than just cribbing other peoples ideas. I don't think anybody but GS even state the centre to centre distance (even Linn don't)!

There's no free lunch with a 9" arm is there? I'd always bias towards lower end of side distortion.

If I get a Mober ARO sub chassis (has same pivot to spindle as Linn Keel, which we believe is 211mm) my ARO DV combo should be good to go?

Looks like I should get myself a Mober ARO sub chassis and learn to do my own setup. They have recently dropped £100 so are now £400 ish.

Maybe that is my b-day present from Mrs Nobeone sorted.

I am hoping to pick up a second hand Tranquility too.

Later a better top plate and Mober DC motor ...
