I've just bought the first two Keaton Henson albums ('Dear' and 'Birthdays') as they have recently been re-released. I already own both but 'Dear' I bought because the newer version includes a number of tracks not included on the original and 'Birthdays' because the original is a picture disc with rather a noisy surface and the newer one is just on standard black vinyl.

What's the new birthdays like Mark, silent?

I'm listening to Taylor Swift's new album, don't ask, i've been on an EDM youtube expedition today while I've been doing kites.

Just had this delivered: Dead Can Dance ‘White Wind’

I think it’s a sign of the viny revival that bootlegs and unofficial releases are appearing on the market again. The DCD record above is not an official release but does contain quite a few rarities and even some unreleased tracks.

I’ve also received this: Slaves ‘Take Control’

I like a bit of Punk

This is the Record Store Day release which is in this embossed (actually its technically called debossed because the pressed decoration comes out rather than going in) gold sleeve and pressed on white vinyl!

Not sure what to say about the Taylor Swift other than ‘enjoy’ :).

I have finally listen to the Birthdays repressing though and most informative it has been. In short, yes, the background rumble noise has gone but with it has also gone a fair chunk of low level detail and pretty much all the atmosphere. So it’s pretty much ruined :) - much quieter though...

It’s either been taken from an mp3 file or actively ‘treated’ to remove the background rumble which has stripped masses of info in the process.

That's really odd, because I have the CD and that sounds fine, not lacking in detail, why didn't they just remaster from the digital files?
